Gday everyone and welcome to Flowers For Kate. That’s me, I’m Kate and those are my now adult humans. I started this business when my kids were little and needed me around more than I ever guessed as a mum I would be needed. Neurodivergence families really do need to be very flexible to come out the other side of the schooling years. But here we are. Harriet graduated two years ago and Max is finishing up year 12 life skills. No exams but plenty of life experience and I’m really proud of us and the way we support each other.
All the purchases you make from my business go towards supporting my family.
I’m not here full time, I’m a support teacher for kids and families with disabilities and difficulties, I make over at Katie Clulow and I also facilitate a family led support group of families experiencing life in school similar to mine.

The Female Vessel. A photographic work exploring how much women carry, literally and figuratively by Katie Clulow.
Across bodies, across lives, across roles, women hold emotional weight, invisible labour, paid work, unpaid work, family, desire, grief, care, identity, expectation, and resistance. They carry themselves, and often, everyone else.
Each image reflects a different facet of what women give, hold, and move through. From intimacy to endurance, from softness to strength.
This is an ongoing body of work by Katie Clulow, continuing to honour and examine women’s work in all its forms, seen and unseen, celebrated and overlooked.
Because women are not one thing. And what they carry is never just one story.

The Female Vessel, by Katie Clulow.
A photographic study exploring how much women carry literally and figuratively. Each portrait reflects a different facet of what women give, hold, and experience. From intimacy to endurance, from softness to strength and as we age the feeling of invisibility.
The vase, made in Japan in the 1950s-1960s, features an original Teen “Ghost Girl” design by Inarco. This portrait will become part of The Female Vessel series.

I first discovered Philippa’s art work on a WA wildflower holiday quite a few years ago now. Philippa’s new diary structured, observations and creations book, marks a 60 year legacy of her work.
Thank you to Fremantle Press for sharing this stunning creative exploration with me.
