Our most recent outing was to the small town of Windsor on the Hawkesbury River, some 28 km from home. Once there, we found ourselves a sunny spot on the river bank in the Gov. Philip Park. Most of the images this week were taken from where we sat and enjoyed a coffee, just the last four requiring me to actually get up out of my chair!...

Last week we braved a coldish day to drive into the Blue Mountains to a place called Wentworth Falls, where there is an attractive man-made lake. Imagine our disgust when what used to be free parking now costs AU$3.00 for FIFTEEN minutes! So we won't be going there again. However, we paid and spent half an hour taking photos, the best of which (from my camera) are below....

Staying in our area this time, we went for a shortish stroll through this man-made park with its artificial lakes and surrounding scrub and bush, a little haven in the midst of suburbia. There are a few of these boardwalks jutting into the lakes Sometimes scars can be not so unattractive Spent Fluid motion Fluffy? Or a floral Silkie?...

This week's images come from our visit to the Corridor of Oaks in Faulconbridge, a small settlement in the nearby Blue Mountains area. With autumn creeping in, we thought the oak trees might be worth a visit, especially as oaks are not too terribly common in our part of the world. As usual I could not resist the temptation to take photos of unusual objects or from different angles, so please bear with me....

This time we have some floral images made during a visit to Buttenshaw Park, just outside Springwood in the Blue Mountains. It being late summer (autumn has not really arrived here yet), there were not that much floral beauty left to look at, but I managed to sn**ch a few for your possible enjoyment. So sit back and enjoy! Elle and I would like to wish you a Happy and Blessed Easter....

Last Monday Elle and Bella and I went for a drive along the mostly rural roads to the south of us, hoping to find some photogenic sights along the way. We were thinking cows, meadows, ponds and the like, but it soon became apparent that there were far better views to be had, hence the title of this blog. First we came across this old Ford fire truck at the entrance to a farm....

The Nikolay Chiker, strongest tug in the world (image sourced online) The story behind this week's blog starts in 2001, when I lived on the island of São Miguel in the Azores. Drinking coffee or a beer and writing in my favourite café, the Gelateria Iris in the SolMar building on the Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, I often looked out over the harbour and its wall to the bright orange Russian salvage tug in the roads, and wondered about it....

We have been regulars at the Bunker Bar Restaurant for years now, and when they opened a venue in Castlereagh near us, it became our go-to place when we feel like eating out, having a snack or just drinks. Recently we went their for our usual Monday outing with our Tibetan Spaniel Bella, and the images below are from that visit....
