Another one of those fun jobs running around with kids and youngsters.

would always find appropriate things for them to do so they are fully engaged and natural and completely unaware of the camera. Even when they are chasing the camera!

All equipment provided by .camera.rentals not just the Red Ranger Gemini and the gorgeous Tokina cine lenses, but also lighting and grip.

This was an extremely touching and emotional shoot for Still Six Lives where this beautiful couple opened themselves up about their experience with

I don’t think there was a crew member behind the camera with dry eyes, including the director and myself weeping 🤷🏾‍♂️

However, task was to create a beautiful and positive vibe rather than a depressing and moody one.

We set the colour pallete in their stunning home and the and I created a soft and pleasing lighting (gear provided by Brisbane Camera Rental by )

To minimise the crew, I managed both Red Ranger cameras, one from Brisbane Camera Rental and the other one from .

I’m a big fan of a big soft bounce. When you position it right it can provide a beautiful soft key with a gentle falloff on one side of the face. The bigger the bounce the further you can place it, less falloff you have and allow more room for talent to move.

In this case we used the 12x12ft ultrabounce and brought in ‘negative fill’ - an 8x8 ft black just behind the to add contrast. The building provided a huge negative fill already, so we just wrapped it around more.

Sometimes a rainy day comes as a blessing. This location would be pretty hard to control with a harsh sun coming through the windows. In that case it’s either “pull out all the big toys” or “embrace the different look of the commercial”.

But with the incredible low light capabilities of the Ranger and cine lenses I was able to just add some 12x12 fill or neg to taste.

LAST MAN LEFT ALIVE is a short film/music video hybrid for Melbourne rock band that we recently wrapped.

As writer, director and co-cinematographer I‘ve been passionately immersed/consumed by it in the best way. There is so much love in my heart for this project and I’m sad that photography is complete.

To all the cast and crew that came on board, thank you for your amazing work! I genuinely cherish our time together on this and appreciate your passionate commitment.

Production Design, - When this project presented itself, you were the linchpin. I cannot possibly pay you back in this lifetime for your design skills, the amount of effort you put in and the team you pulled together. Knocked it out of the park, again! Is like going to war with valerian steel in your palm. There is no subsititute. It was literally a career goal achieved directing you and you delivered. An absolute tour de force! There are so many amazing things about working with you Troy, I think I’ll do a seperate post so I can fan boy out 🤓

The look of this video was a bit moodier than normal to fit the grim winter cold. The playfulness of the kids contrasted that beautifully!

We had no way to postpone the shoot when we found out it was going to be raining all day long. The only thing left to do was to shuffle some locations around and embrace the rain fully!

and I had so much fun running around with the kids in the rain.

And and the team worked their nuts off in lighting despite the fact that it doesn’t look lit. Unlike in other professions, in film, if people can’t notice your work that’s only a good thing :) A lot of the work was just shaping the light with big frames and leaving enough room for kids to move freely.

Often we would punch an .lighting 600d into ultrabounce for some extra fill, or use it as a backlit through a softbox.

I’m so stoked to have worked on so many campaigns over the past 12 months, it is always a creative challenge that keeps me on my toes but at the same time the stability of the professional crew is what provides the sustainable and enjoyable working environment.

This campaign was one of my favourites. Thanks for the opportunity and for the state-of-the-art equipment and for your stellar work on lighting.

And the food was healthy, tasty, and nutritious! Trust me, that is really important for the team to function like a well oiled machine!

Absolutely speechless. Last night my dear cine brother and I won the gold tripod at the national ACS , for the best short film !! Cam went to receive it in Adelaide and delivered a beautiful speech.

This is arguably the highest achievement a can receive in
