Kings Road, Chelsea, is within walking distance of Pimlico (where I'm staying with Nemo the cat) and offers a diverse glimpse of London. Ornamented by luxury shops and galleries, I definitely felt underdressed. The cars too! So many Rolls and Bentleys. The Christmas lights and decorations were lovely, so now Chelsea can add the Garden Show and Christmas to its list of must-sees.

Just dazzling!

A lovely walk on this mild night (1°). What a show London put on. From Liberty London, Carnaby Street, along Regent Street and back to Oxford Circus, this was a truely spectacular walk.

I love London at this time of year, and Battersea is one of my favourite spots to visit. Just ask Kylie..haha! She visited this week. Also lovely is the walk home over Chelsea Bridge, with the sunset behind Battersea Bridge.

Another reason why I enjoy travelling outside of the popular seasons. You get to see a place from an entirely different perspective.

I was stalking some European Stonechat through the tall grass when the giant head of a Fallow Deer popped up. Scared the crap out of me!

What does a photographer do when faced with danger? Take a photo, of course. Then back away slowly and make my way out of the grass.

A few from the Stag party...Post-rut hangover.

The deer rut is the annual breeding season, which typically takes place in autumn (Oct to early November in the UK) and is characterised by increased male aggression, mating displays, and territorial fights. During the rut, male deer (stags or bucks) become pumped with testosterone, leading them to compete for females (hinds or does) through roaring, parallel walking, and ultimately, fighting with their antlers. The sucessful males carry on to breed with their does whilst those less fortunate sit around gathering strength for next seasons rut.

While it looks like an affectionate moment between these two Gannets, they’re actually hard at work! This is mutual preening—a practical (but still beautiful) behaviour where parasites, dirt, and debris are removed from each other’s feathers.

In the process, they spread a special oil from a gland near their tails, which helps keep their feathers sleek and water-resistant, essential for all that diving and fishing.
Nature might not always be romantic, but it’s always remarkable.

Birds are still bringing me joy. Here are some recent faves. A few new ones for me too. We never seem to run out of new species for me to discover.

How many do you recognise?
