A few images taken around the Sunshine Coast with Sony’s new super lightweight 400 & 600 primes. Dropping weight sure adds a lot of fun!
I also just posted a review on YouTube comparing those two lenses to the 100-400 f/4.5 and 300 f/2.8. And of course also tested the use with TCs. Which one would be your pick?

Sometimes the best shots happen when you’re not expecting them.

For the past few months, I’ve been returning to the same lake near home, hoping to capture a special image of an elusive Cotton Pygmy Goose.

When they’re simply swimming, these tiny geese can look almost black and white. But catch them at the right angle and their wings reveal spectacular shades of green. For a long time, I imagined the perfect image would be a banking flight shot, with those colours catching the light.

Turns out, I was wrong.

On the day I took this photo, the weather was poor and there weren’t many birds around. I almost didn’t go out at all, and when I arrived, I didn’t stay long. I certainly didn’t think I’d captured anything special.

It was only later that evening, scrolling through the images at home, that I saw it.

After months of trying, I had finally captured the Cotton Pygmy Goose in a way I hadn’t imagined — and perhaps a little more beautifully than I had hoped.

Sometimes you just have to show up, even when the conditions don’t look promising. 🦆💚

Nothing quite like capturing two birds interacting. 🐦❤️

Those moments reveal a whole different side of bird behaviour — communication, connection, courtship, play and everything in between. So much can happen when there’s more than one bird in the frame, behaviours we might never see from a single subject.

A few favourite moments of birds interacting with their partners, companions and rivals. 📸🪶

POV: you’re trying to impress your crush… so you start drumming 😆🥁

This male Palm Cockatoo takes courtship to another level — showing off his drumming skills before finishing with the ultimate mic drop: a stick toss into the nest! 🪵💫

And there’s a purpose behind the performance. Those sticks help build the nest platform, keeping eggs and chicks safe from rising water during heavy tropical rain.

Have you ever seen anything like this?
