A handful of frames, from an in between moment at the bays with Kell & Eva. There’s something about black & white. Photos damaged in the passage of time, airport x-rays strike again. I should stop doing that. 🧳

The turn of Winter in Beijing, China ❄️

A little outtake from my journal since, speaking of the man in the 6th slide…

A pilgrimage, blazing red, golden yellow - Prosperity, Power. Every nation’s measuring stick, we’re all different, but only just.

I noticed this man move around the Square, testing each position for photo-worthiness. I wondered what the photo meant to him. What’s the story he tells about China, about his home, his people, his culture. I bet he has a favourite Peking dish that he couldn’t live without out, just like me & sausage rolls. The News told me about China, the headlines reinforced buzz words and things that make you feel better about home. But maybe home is nice, for this guy too.

I don’t know, it’s all speculation. Until I’m born in China in another life I probably can’t say. But I like to assume that we are a lot more alike than some tell me. 🌿

There's beauty in the mundane. 🌿

I'm sure as parents you can become so well versed in the rhythm of your children's wonder, that it begins to seem ordinary. The same park, same swing, same sound of the bikes on the path, same fascination with tall grass or a bird. We do it with our own lives too. 🌺

Big love, big family. ⛅

There's a craziness that ensues when siblings & cousins & generations gather together. This happy family had all of the good kind, a spark that meant that lingering rain couldn't even damper the mood. 🌾

I like to think that memories & photos like these will hold some significance in a year, or five, or twenty, maybe even fifty years time. We change quickly, photographs remain. 💙
