Sometimes the best adventures come from the connections you make along the way.

After all the recent rain across the Mid North Coast, Unearthed by Matt, Kelsie and I were lucky enough to spend last Sunday exploring a hidden corner of the world that very few people ever get to see. Thanks to a friendship formed through photography and a shared appreciation for nature, we were invited back onto a local property to venture further upstream in search of another waterfall.

The journey wasn't exactly easy going. Between the leeches, spikey vines, stinging plants and slippery rocks, there were plenty of moments that reminded us we were well and truly in the wild. But that's often where the best experiences are found.

Some places demand your attention, and this beautiful little cascade was one of them. Crystal clear water flowed over ancient rocks, winding its way through untouched rainforest as shafts of late afternoon light filtered through the canopy above. The whole scene felt almost surreal, like stepping into another world hidden away from the rest of it.

A huge thank you to Sparky for another unforgettable adventure. Stay tuned, More photos to come!

πŸ„ A Beautiful Killer in the Forest πŸ„

After the recent rain we've had across the Mid North Coast, the forest floor has absolutely exploded with fungi. Yesterday I headed out for a wander to see what was popping up and stumbled across several of these incredible specimens the infamous Death Cap (Amanita phalloides).

At first glance they're surprisingly ordinary looking. In fact, that's part of what makes them so dangerous. Beneath their understated beauty lies one of the most poisonous mushrooms on Earth. Just a single mushroom can contain enough toxins to cause fatal liver failure in an adult.

The best rule is simple: never eat a wild mushroom unless it has been positively identified by an expert. Many deadly species closely resemble edible varieties, and even experienced foragers can make mistakes.

As photographers and nature lovers, we get the best of both worlds we can admire these fascinating organisms, appreciate their role in the ecosystem, and leave them exactly where we found them.

Nature never ceases to amaze me. One moment you're admiring something delicate and beautiful, and the next you're reminded that some of nature's most dangerous creations can also be among its most photogenic.

From a freezing Cold adventure to Ebor Falls πŸ₯Ά -2.3⁰ a few years back
so when i woke up this morning and jumped on the computer to edit some of the images from last night i've noticed that all my astro images have been saved in .jpg and not .raw πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ₯΄
my fault for not triple checking the settings, i seems to change it to jpg either after shooting a hdr or when i go into the C1 setting to use the gyro to get my horizons straight... either way bit of a mistake but still happy with how the edited jpg come out

The Milky way image was a 20sec exposure at f2.8 iso4000

And the star trail image was 33min exp f2.8 iso50
Both shot around 8pm on canon eos Rp with the Laowa 12mm, with the Crescent moon as a soft lighting source 😊

I'm absolutely thrilled with the composition of this image, a memento from my journey to Werrikimbe National Park, located near Walcha and accessible via Wauchope/Port Macquarie.

The drive from Wauchope takes you through some beautiful scenery:

Start by driving towards Beechwood on Beechwood Road for around 6.5km.
Then, turn onto Bellangry Road and follow it for approximately 18km to the small town of Bellangry.
Beyond Bellangry, you'll enter Hastings Forest Way, which is an unsealed road.
Continue along Hastings Forest Way for about 30km through the forest until you reach the park boundary, and then another 8km to the junction with Cockerawombeeba Road in the eastern precinct.

This delightful walk in cool temperate rainforest visits King Fern Falls and Filmy Fern Cascades.

Discover the tranquility of an easy 2km walk along the King Fern Walking Track, leading to the picturesque King Fern Falls and the delicate Filmy Fern Cascades. This classic path meanders through a deep mountain gully cloaked in rainforest, providing a fantastic glimpse into the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. Stand in awe of the giant Antarctic beech and the ancient coachwood trees that define this landscape. The rainforest is alive with birdsong, offering abundant opportunities for birdwatching. Keep your eyes peeled for log-runners, warblers, and yellow robins, and your ears attuned to the powerful and melodious 'eeoow-chewww-cho-cho' call of the olive whistler.
