I sat up last night editing this sneak peek from yesterday’s maternity session, completely in awe. The way she moved and the way she owned this moment. She messaged after seeing her sneak peek.

“I can’t believe how versatile you’ve made me look, sexy, elegant and motherly all at once.”

And I just sat there smiling - completely proud. Because that’s exactly what I see in every mother and that’s how I want you to feel when you see yourself in your maternity photos.

When we choose to celebrate each other’s wins instead of comparing - we create a community where creativity can truly thrive. When we refer work instead of guarding it - we keep clients in the hands of people who will cherish them. When we share tips and experiences - we grow stronger together. ✨

Photography is not a race and shouldn’t be a competition. It’s an art form built on connection — with our clients, with our work and with each other.

There’s enough light for all of us. Lift each other up and remember that community will always win over competition.

A few little tips I believe in when it comes to supporting other photographers ——

✨ Share their work - If you love a photo they’ve taken, share it with credit. It costs nothing and means everything. It tells your audience you respect their art.

✨ Connection - Coffee chats, online meetups or just a kind DM can create a beautiful connection.

✨ Remember the art behind the lens - We’re all pouring our heart and soul into this; kindness always outshines competition.

✨ Refer - If you’re booked out or it’s not for you, simply recommend someone who would be perfect for the job. You’re telling clients you value the right fit over competition.

✨ Normalise community over competition - Talk openly about supporting others. It sets a tone.

✨ Check in - The creative world can be so isolating. A simple check in can mean everything.

✨ Get creative together - Invite them to get creative with you. A creative shoot together might be just what you both need. Collaboration creates friendships and skills that competition can’t.

✨ There is room for everyone - There’s endless room for beauty, talent and heart.
