A taste of what you’ll see when walking around Endeavour Fern Gully at Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula. Short trail but a great place to walk around, take photos and zone out.

NEW VIDEO NOW LIVE!
My latest Wildlife and Flora video filmed at Seawinds Gardens on the Mornington Peninsula is now uploaded to YouTube. What a great place! I arrived at dawn and was greeted by plenty of Kangaroos, I even managed to witness a punch on between a couple of big males. I captured plenty of Roo photos before heading to the Duck pond and indigenous gardens to round out a great day of photography. Hope you enjoy the video and please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel if you haven’t already. I’d love to hear your comments if you get the chance. Cheers!

One of my photos from a recent adventure at Seawinds Gardens. I always enjoy photographing Kangaroos and there were plenty of them happy to pose for a snap. I also captured some great shots of Ducks and interesting flora which you’ll see in upcoming posts on Facebook and Instagram, follow me there if you haven’t always. I filmed a video of this day too so look out for that, I’ll put up the link in my next post.

Finding a new path I’ve never walked always interests me and the truth is I’ve walked past this trail at Devilbend many times. I’m usually here fishing and instead of turning left I head straight to the water. But with just my camera gear and no rod or reel it gave me a chance to look around. I saw this moody shot and took it, then headed down the mysterious misty path to see what else I could find.

I captured a shot of this Galah on a day of birdlife photography on golf course of all places. The course had 20+ waterways and was like a mini wetlands. I’m going to shoot a video on this in the future so if you’re interested in watching that please consider following me or subscribing to my YouTube channel.

Although I don’t mind Winter, this cold blast we’re getting right now makes me want Spring to hurry up and get here. Here’s a photo taken last Spring in Eildon, Victoria. I’m a sucker for a bit of flora photography, especially when a Bee photo bombs my shot. Captured with my Canon 55-250mm lens. I love this lens for flora photos, and for a kit lens, it’s super sharp and the colours are so vibrant.

I captured this photo of a Superb Fairy Wren while shooting Birdlife Photography at a wetland on the Mornington Peninsula. He was so fast and unfortunately I couldn’t get a shot of him looking at the camera. However, I still like the colours and simplicity of this photo. I captured this on my Canon mirrorless camera paired with the Sigma 150-600mm lens at ISO 1600, which created a bit of noise that I was able to remove in Lightroom.

A recent visit to Devilbend Reservoir landed me this beautiful photo while shooting nature landscape photography. I arrived at this location in the dark, set up the camera and waited for first light. As the dark disappeared the fog presented itself and the calm conditions made for a stunning simplistic shot with a crystal clear reflection. I filmed a video of this day so if you haven’t seen it be sure to check it out, link is in my profile.

Insect photography can be quite tricky, especially when it’s hand held above your head with a 250mm lens. I’d like it a little sharper but still pretty happy with this shot of a Damselfly.

A pair of mushrooms captured at Devilbend Reservoir. I had to focus stack this image to get both mushrooms in focus while retaining the blurred background. So, for those that are unaware, what is focus stacking? Without going into to much detail, in this shot I had to take 2 photos, one with the front mushroom in focus and the other with the back mushroom in focus. Both images are then blended together in photo processing software like Photoshop. There are a lot of detailed videos showing you how to do this on YouTube if you want to check it out. Speaking of videos, I filmed a video on the day I captured this photo. If you haven’t seen it you can check it out on my website or YouTube. Link is in my profile.
