For years i thought that there was a specific way that i had to walk through this life. Society told me that i had to go to school, get an education and decide what i wanted to do for a career, then go to university to further educate myself in this career choice or get an apprenticeship, then get a job in that chosen career path where i would be trapped despite my happiness and sanity until I'm

old and grey. I fell victim to the boundaries society restricted me to for years and i found as the years went on i gradually felt very unsatisfied with what life had to offer. What i realised through good and even more so bad life experiences is that i don't need to walk through life following the social normalities of life, i can actually create a different journey and live a life i have always wanted... so thats what i started doing

Building Ripper Productions | Tradie Content Marketing Agency this year so far has been one hell of a ride.

There’s been some wins, some hard lessons, bitter pulls to swallow, some questionable decisions, and plenty of moments where I’ve wondered if I’m actually doing this whole thing right.

But that’s kind of the point.

I’m trying to build something bigger than just a production company. Something that actually means something to me. A business, a brand and a life that the grease monkey in a workshop who wanted to take a chance on himself would be proud of

Right now, I’m still trying figure out what works, doubling down on it, learning from what doesn’t work, trying to be better for myself and better for my clients, making better content and trying to push the business further than I have before.

There’s no perfect roadmap for this. So I’m just building it just like a heap of you out there.

And we do it one shoot at a time. One idea at a time. One mistake at a time and one win at a time.

But yea, it’s just staying the course and see where it takes me.

All I know for sure is I think this coming summer might have to shave the head again 🤔

Chicago doesn’t slow down for you.

It moves too fast, but slow enough to enjoy. Trains screaming overhead, strangers disappearing around corners, headlights cutting through the cold.

So you learn to wait.

Wait for the light.
Wait for the stranger.
Wait for the moment when everything lines up for half a second.

One city. One camera. A thousand stories happening at once.

And for a second, you get to hold onto one.

Round 36

I’ll be honest, getting older has been harder than I thought it would be.

There’s this strange feeling that comes with watching the years disappear behind you while looking around and wondering if you should be further ahead by now.

You start thinking about the things you thought you’d have figured out by this age. The places you thought you’d be. The person you thought you’d become.

And sometimes it feels like I’m running out of time.

But maybe that’s the wrong way to look at it.

Because I’m still here. Still creating. Still chasing ideas. Still taking risks. Still trying to build something that means something to me.

Maybe life was never supposed to happen on the timeline I imagined when I was younger.

So at 36, I’m trying to stop measuring my life against where I thought I’d be, and start appreciating where I actually am.

There’s still a long road ahead.

I just want to remember to look out the window every now and then and enjoy the ride

As creatives and business owners, we spend a lot of time waiting for the right opportunity.

The bigger question is:

What are you doing with the opportunities that are already in front of you?

That project you’re unsure you’re ready for.
That person you could reach out to.
That idea you keep putting off.
That chance to put your work in front of more people.

You don’t always need to be ready.

Sometimes you just need to say yes, figure it out, and back yourself enough to make it work.

Because opportunities don’t always come around twice.

Take the shot. Learn as you go. Build from there.

No road to follow. Open waters ahead. Just a heading, a destination, and the willingness to keep moving when the horizon looks exactly the same for days.

Maybe life is a little like that.

Sometimes you have to leave the safety of the harbour without knowing exactly where the journey will take you. You’ll lose your way. You’ll hit rough seas. You’ll question whether you’re heading in the right direction.

But you keep going.

Because you don’t discover new shores by staying anchored.

Keep moving. 🌊

Went on a quest up to Collie with Blake to catch some of the drifting and put the great and powerful Canon ANZ C50 through its paces and see what it can do with people sliding around a race track.

And I have to say… it did pretty well!

With cars moving unpredictably at high speed, rapid pans, tyre smoke, changing light and plenty of close passes, the camera had to keep up and it delivered.

The autofocus stayed locked onto the action, the fast sensor readout helped keep rolling shutter under control, and the high frame rates gave me plenty of flexibility to slow down those big moments in the edit. Add in the full-frame image and dynamic range, and the C50 proved to be a seriously capable camera for fast-paced drifting

Anyways!… besides that was a wicked day out! Enjoy the vlog if you manage to watch more than 5seconds
