Love to share our recent day tripping adventure to Meeniyan where Glenn gives us a putting display at the Meeniyan Golf Club.

We then discover the Meeniyan Bird Hide where we meet an expert bird watcher who talks about the passion and love of bird watching.

Finally we visit the iconic The Meeniyan Hotel, which has been on this site as a hotel and store since 1892 until burnt down and rebuilt to the building today in 1933.
A thoroughly enjoyable and fun experience mainly due to the local publican, Michael who was extremely accommodating and hospitable also with food symbolising that of a true country feed.

Fair to say there’s lots to do in Meeniyan.

How lucky is Echuca to have so many great pubs today, however, it was slightly different in 1876 where there were 90 applications for licensee renewal - 86 granted.

This is where the old myth of Echuca having 80 pubs at one time came from.

I just visited the 11 operating pubs in the Echuca-Moama region

Definitely worth the visit.

Cannonball Run NSW/VIC March 2026

5 days/4 nights/2 mustangs/2 states/2 walkie talkies = 3063ks.

Here’s how we did it.

Day 1
Melbourne-Moama-Deniliquin-Jerilderie-Narrandera-Mirrool-West Wyalong-Cowra-Bathurst. Stayed at the George Hotel.
Day 2
Drove many laps of Mount Panorama-across the Great Diving Range-Bowral-Katoomba. Stayed at Three Sisters Motel.
Day 3
Explored Echo Point home of the Three Sisters lookout, perfect viewing along with so-called friendly cockatoos, then to Mudgee-Merriwa-Scone for the horse races. Stayed at local motel and dinner Scone RSL.
Day 4
Leave early, detour to The Entrance, beautiful place, then to outer Sydney to Bald Hill lookout, the start of the Grand Pacific Drive. What a view and drive the road that stretches over the ocean. Stop at the Imperial Hotel Clifton for a drink looking over the ocean. Make through Kiama-Nowra-Ulladulla where we stayed at Pidgeon Motel.
Day 5
Leave for Batemans Bay, turn off over Mt Clyde 874mt through fog coming to Braidwood then north of Canberra to Hume Highway last stop, the Dog on the Tuckerbox at Gundagai, then home.

Love to share our recent day tripping adventure to Walhalla where we discover and experience life as it was in its historic era.

Once one of Australia's richest towns and home to over 4000 gold seekers, this sleepy mountainside town is now frozen in time and is home to only 20 residents.

We walked the town centre appreciating the restored heritage buildings and the peacefulness that only a place like Walhalla nestled by Stringers creek and sunken into steep mountain ranges possesses.

Not only did we notice the town’s history, equally impressive was our stopover for lunch at the Walhalla Lodge Hotel as we can’t speak any higher of the location, extremely friendly staff and some of the best pub food we’ve had.

Well done to all at ‘The Wally Pub’.

Love to share our recent day tripping adventure across the Strezelecki Ranges to Mirboo North where we visit the Mirboo North Hotel for lunch and finishing at the Hill Top Hives where local honey and beeswax products can be purchased.

Well done to Mirboo North Hotel publicans, Dave and Zarn on creating a friendly atmosphere and some of the best pub food we’ve had. Great people.
