Some behind the scenes moments with City of Melbourne and AMES.

Spent some time recently with Michael and the team at Walkalong, a family business that first opened its doors in November 1953 and has been repairing shoes, bags and leather goods in Melbourne ever since.

No script.

No corporate messaging.

Just stories about craftsmanship, pride in your work and what it takes to keep a business going for more than 70 years.

One comment from Michael stuck with me:

“The work should represent the quality of the product you’ve repaired and the aim is to get it as good as the original, if not improve on it.”

You don’t hear that level of pride in craftsmanship every day.

Projects like this are a good reminder that some of the best stories aren’t the ones businesses create for marketing.

They’re the ones they’ve been quietly living for years.

Thanks Michael and the Walkalong team for trusting me to help tell your story.

A few behind the scenes moments from a recent interview we filmed for The Maze: Past, Present and Legacy exhibition.

Really enjoyed working on this one. It was great to sit down and hear the story behind the project and help document the legacy of a community artwork that continues to have an impact more than 30 years later.

Swipe through for a few BTS moments from the interview setup and a snippet from the final video.

May Recap 📸

• Put my public liability insurance to the test getting clients to jump around in front of the camera on a My Mortgage Freedom shoot.

• Filmed Lantrak’s 1 million tonne milestone for the North East Link tunnels. Big achievement, questionable shirt collars.

• Andy and Callum delivering the goods at the Drum Theatre, capturing a fresh library of hero imagery for the City of Greater Dandenong.

A good mix of people, projects and problem solving this month. On to June. 🎥📸

If the client can’t get to the studio, we bring the studio to them.

For this shoot with My Mortgage Freedom we setup a full backdrop + lighting setup directly in the carpark to capture:
• Team portraits
• Website & socials content
• Brand campaign imagery
• New tech/product rollout photos

Really fun one combining polished studio style lighting with a more urban startup feel.

Working across a diverse range of locations is one of the things I enjoy most about this job. One day it’s an office, the next it’s out onsite capturing the action as it happens.

The best part of this job is the people.
Different industries, different backgrounds, always something interesting to capture.
And yes, there’s tea in my cup.

Had the opportunity to work with Charter Keck Cramer on a culture campaign focused on their people.

2 shoot days.
10 interviews.
B-roll + photo library.

Always enjoy building out a proper body of work like this.

Leaves the team with a solid library of content they can use over time.
