I was walking through Royal Park and noticed a small flock of Galahs so I crouched down in the grass and got some lovely views of this cheeky Galah having a munch ! They are such characters ! 🕊️

I was crouching down observing Crested Pigeons in the Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve when I heard the beating of wings above me, looked up and a flock of Great Egrets flew right over me - they are Great aren’t they ?

Or are they Cattle Egrets ??

(That’s a double question right there)

Flashback to an incredible trip to Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park (CYPAL) in Far North Queensland with the brilliant - we saw so many stunning rare birds and critters - a highlight of course was the endangered Palm Cockatoo - these unique Cockatoos are only found in Northern Cape York and New Guinea and are biologically unique and excellent drummers ! What an experience - if you can - you must go.

Red-browed Finch having a munch on the gravel path just near the car park at Truganina Park Altona Meadows - such a confiding bird (usually pretty skittish) this one was too busy to notice me. They are approximately 11cms in size.

One of our most endangered birds - the Orange-bellied Parrot - on the brink of extinction - less than 100 in the wild I believe - have been lucky enough to see them in Tasmania and also mainland Australia - this one was with - what a day - a stunning part of the world and such precious birds - help by donating to who are working hard to save this bird here https://birdlife.org.au/donate 🕊️🕊️
