One of the most magical places on earth - Margaret River in Western Australia. Over 80% of the flora and fauna is endemic, having been separated from the mainland millennia ago. There's an energy like nowhere else. It's what brought me back, whenever possible, since first visting March 2013. Margaret River region also happens to be home to the best Cabernet Sauvignon on the planet. 🥂

Summertime, Bronte Beach.

2016-2020 was where I got to spend four of my most fortunate and memorable summers.

Visiting again earlier this month for the first time in 2 ½ years didn't feel quite the same. However, four years living a stone's throw from this will forever be etched with immense fondness and gratefulness.

Have a prosperous and happy 2023 everyone. The last two years have been tough for many of us but change is on its way.

As the late, great Pele said,

"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing."

A-Z around the world continues and on 22/02/2022 it's V for vintage! [Part I].

Pictured here is John Kosovich, handpicking this year's Chenin blanc crop last weekend. This will mark 84 year-old John's 69th consecutive vintage, having left school aged 15 in 1952 to become winemaker at the family vineyard.

John Kosovich Wines celebrate their centennial year this year, 1922-2022. John's son Arch, current winemaker pictured in the second image, is keeping the family tradition alive and well - continuing to produce one of Australia's great Chenin blanc wines.

Vintage in the southern hemisphere typically runs from January to May, depending on latitude and altitude, Northern Hemisphere August to November. Another hot summer in the Swan Valley, Perth Western Australia has meant 90% of the fruit is already fermenting away, all set for 2022's hotly anticipated wines...

...P for Planet?

Jupiter, Saturn and their satellites last night viewed from Perth, approximately 15 minutes before the planets' closest crossing before disappearing behind the Indian Ocean's horizon. (And our token satellite, which looked mighty fine as a perfect waxing half crescent last night).

A-Z of travel.....and M is for the moon!

Well, with Richard Branson's Virgin Galaticia it'll be a travell destination pretty soon for a cool $100k.

Our humble little satellite is full tonight on Halloween! AND it's a blue moon... a full month twice in the same calendar month... once in a blue moon on Halloween.... 👻🌚

Another supermoon shone brightly in our skies Friday/Saturday. The last 'strawberry' full moon of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere signified the first full moon of Winter in Australia.

We're accustomed to seeing plenty of ocean images from above but powerful breaking waves take on an entirely different form beneath the surface.

In Australia, NSW has just received a swell of the decade, south WA is about to and Victoria could see all-time conditions by end of the week.

Sydneysiders can look forward to their Eastern Suburbs beaches re-opening at the end of this week.

These images were all taken first weekend of closure, Sunday 22nd March 2020. A few entitled locals were patiently moved on by lifeguards and police.

Australia and New Zealand today, 25th April, mark the anniversary of the first campaign that led to major casualties for both countries in WWI on the shores of Gallipoli.

Before moving to Australia I'd not heard of Anzac Day, such are countries' education systems penned to their own history (except for China!).

It's a day when millions across both countries gather for dawn memorial services and later fill RSL clubs and pubs to play the game two-up.

Neither of course will be happening today but thousands have already lined the streets with candles outside their homes to pay respect at sunrise.
