It’s not always about constellations and nebula. Sometimes it is about sunshine and rainbows!

And bringing new life into the world.

And yes…I don’t always photograph things at night.

There’s always been something about pregnancy that I’ve been drawn to. Obviously having never experienced it myself, I don’t know the joy of morning sickness or feeling so large that moving is a struggle… ( ) But it has always brought a smile to my face seeing friends and family bring new life into the world. Being able to capture that part in their life just tops it off.

We are stardust.

Something I love about photography is the ability to capture a moment in time of someone’s life. That moment can be anything…from a normal day in their life to the culmination of a lot of hard work leading to a life changing moment. And so it was when I met Kara and Greg. The journey these guys went on to safely bring their little guy into the world is inspirational.

So it was an honour when they asked me to capture this moment in their lives in a special way. And here it is. Their moment in time, captured under the night sky.

From an aesthetics point of view, this is also one of my favourite shots I’ve taken. It took a lot of effort (and patience from my clients!) to get the sky right…and I feel like I nailed it. I’m very proud of this one and I’m not ashamed to say it!

Pack my bags and go...How far? All the way...

A woman in a wedding dress poses under the Andromeda Galaxy as it sets over the Macedon Ranges. Something that intrigues me is photographing thing under objects under the night sky. Not just the Milky Way, but whatever I can point my camera at. This time, it was a galaxy some 2.5 million light years away!
