Went for a walk around the jetties last weekend where I captured some of our local birdlife. Love the colours of our local pigeons and great to see the swallows sit still enough for a snap.

For several years now, I have watched and photographed the praying mantis in our garden. These are know as 'False Garden Mantis' (Pseudomantis albofimbriata), and have been the dominate species the past few years. These are a few photos I have taken over the past few weeks.

Early Aurora on the 20th, taken from the Kalimna Hill Lookout overlooking the Gippsland Lakes. Lots of colour, but no real beams at that stage. Unfortunately, it didn't really fire up until late after we got home, but was so pleased to be able to photograph it from the back yard even though the foreground wasn't as interesting.

Like many other people, last night I ventured to capture the Aurora. It was just amazing! This is the first proper one that I have photographed, in the past there was just a little singular colour but last night it really put on a show. And to think I captured these in my own back yard....

Happy New Year 🥂
Once again we made our way over to view the 9:30 fireworks in Lakes Entrance from the Cliff Top overlooking the town. Thought I would share some of the photos that I took of them.

May everyone have a safe, healthy and prosperous 2026.

That time of year again when our unique little native orchids are to be found. We went for a bit of a look today, not much to be found in our usual spot, but we did find a few. These are a couple of the photos I got.

Have been missing in action for quite awhile, so thought it time to share some photos again. These are some native orchids found in our local bush area on the weekend. The recent strong winds have made it unsafe to be out under the gum trees, and not easy to take photos of flowers that are being whipped around by the wind, so it was nice to have a calm day. Look forward to finding a few different ones over the coming weeks.
