“Got Them Jetty Blues.”

A series of shots, where the long exposure calms the sea and clouds at blue hour, while the abandoned jetty ruins are a glimpse back into the past.

My mate Greg and I, hiked in to the “hidden jetty” hoping to capture one of those amazing colourful sunrises, which just didn’t happen, except for a brief glimpse of colour on the horizon, however, “Blue Hour” was working beautifully, as seen in these shots.

The remains of the hidden San Remo Jetty, in the pre-dawn light.
Quite a few hours work went into this image. This is a blend of five, light painted shots, taken at different angles, highlighting the posts, and some of the water, I took the best bits from each image, and blended those bits back together, to produce this final image.

The Rye Pier disappears into the heavy sea fog, while some ethereal figures lean on the railing, taking it all in. This is a composite of two images, each with separate figures leaning on the railing, I have blended the extra figure in to this shot, to add more interest into the image.

The very rickety remains of this old and abandoned jetty, highlighted by my light painting of the ruins, in the pre-dawn darkness.
Those pebbles/rocks in front of the jetty are a good example of what we walked on, for 1.3kms, to get to the jetty, not pleasant walking, but well worth the effort!

“Pre Dawn Hidden Jetty Ruins.”

The first of my shots from a great mornings photography, it was a very early morning start to capture sunrise, at the hidden San Remo Jetty.

This is a light painting of the very rickety, and rotting away remains of this old abandoned jetty, in the pre-dawn darkness.

I call this the hidden jetty, as its not visible, or accessible from any road, or pathway. It’s a 3km hard walk, at mid tide, on fist sized pebbles and rocks, but certainly worth the effort. I don’t believe the jetty will be there much longer, the uprights are rotten and barely supported within the ground, and you can wobble it back and forth, a big northerly storm will be its demise.
