What a fantastic celebration Mahbilil Festival 2026 has been!
Once again, Jabiru came alive with music, dance, art, culture and community. It was wonderful to see so many people come together in the heart of Kakadu to celebrate what makes this place so special.
From the performers on stage to the artists, families, kids and everyone behind the scenes, there was colour, energy and plenty of smiles wherever you looked.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in making Mahbilil 2026 such a great success. It was a privilege to be there capturing some of those moments through my lens.

Mahbilil Festival 2026
Mahbilil Festival has begun in Jabiru, and I’m very pleased to have been asked to photograph this wonderful celebration of culture, music and community.
Tonight was just the beginning, with the festival continuing tomorrow with a full day of culture, entertainment and live music in the heart of Kakadu.
I put together this collage from some of the moments I captured tonight — a little taste of Mahbilil through my lens.
Looking forward to another big day behind the camera tomorrow.

Istanbul Through the Lens. Life on the Streets
There’s something romantic about the streets of Istanbul after dark.
The sound of a saxophone drifting through the city, trams winding their way through busy streets and the Galata Tower watching over it all.
Sometimes the best way to discover a city is simply to wander with a camera and see where the streets take you.
A few more moments from Istanbul through my lens.

Istanbul Through the Lens
It’s been a while since I’ve shared something a little different from my photography.
Kakadu and Darwin will always be home, and the landscapes, wildlife and people of the Top End have shaped so much of the way I see the world through a camera.
But then there was Istanbul.
There is a romance about this city that is difficult to put into words. The sound of the call to prayer drifting through the streets, ferries crossing the Bosphorus, old trams passing through crowded laneways and magnificent mosques standing quietly amongst the life of a modern city.
I spent hours simply exploring with my camera, getting lost in the streets and waiting for those moments that make photography so special.
At the Blue Mosque, a young girl wandered towards the fountains and for a few seconds everything around her seemed to disappear. It was just her, the mosque and a beautiful moment in a city thousands of kilometres from home.
That is what I love about photography. Whether I’m standing amongst the ancient landscapes of Kakadu, wandering around Darwin or halfway around the world in Istanbul, there is always a story waiting in front of the lens.
These are just the beginning of my photographs from Turkey.
Would you like to see more of Istanbul through my lens?

June's Strawberry Moon over Jabiru Lake
The June Strawberry Moon made an early appearance, rising over Jabiru Lake at around 6:45 pm. As it climbed through the evening clouds, birds crossed the fading light while the calm waters reflected another beautiful Kakadu evening, with Brockman's escarpment providing a stunning backdrop.
Despite its name, the Strawberry Moon isn't usually red or pink. It's the traditional name given to June's full moon.

Nature's Evening Performance
The light was fading, the lake was calm, and Brockman's escarpment stood glowing beneath an incredible cloud formation.
I set up the camera and waited patiently for the Strawberry Moon, hoping it would complete an already spectacular Kakadu evening. Sometimes it's not just about the moon it's about being there to witness nature putting on a show that no two evenings ever repeat.
These are the moments that keep drawing me back into the landscape.

Moonrise Over Darwin Harbour
A golden full moon rises above Darwin Harbour, casting its warm glow across the water while the lights of the Santos gas facility sparkle against the night sky.
Moments like this remind us that even in an industrial landscape, nature still steals the show. The contrast between the moonlit harbour, the calm water, and the working port creates a scene that is uniquely Darwin.
A beautiful Top End night where industry and nature share the same horizon.
