Greetings peeps! The other day I realized it's been 10 years since I first started taking photos. Furthermore it's been 6 years since I last produced a body of work. Alot of the inactivity stems from the passing of my father which lead to a lack of motivation, but I also just got lazy.

This year I'm hoping will be the year I get off my ass and actually do something. So in saying that I have made an Instagram page (lewisjarrettphotography) for my work, whereby I will upload my photos that I have taken from 2008 to present. Included will be shots/variations which I've never posted online before as well as some behind the scenes pics. By the time I get done with all that I'll hopefully have some new pics to show 💪

One last thing, those who know me will know that my home in Tassie burnt down last year. However I was lucky enough to salvage a bunch of prints which I had stored there. Those that could be saved have been re-matted and I'm in the process of re-attaching frames. I intend to sell these at a significantly reduced cost which I will advertise soon.

Thanks!

Finally after 2.5 years I found the motivation to take a new photograph. I've had this goat skull kicking round for years so I thought it's about time I did something using it. This was shot with red cellophane in-front of the lens then layered with some filters. Early days yet! but I'm thinking about experimenting along these lines...

So it's been over 2 years since I last produced something. I still haven't taken anything new, but I dug up this old chestnut from a 2012 shoot and gave it a spit shine. Next year I hope to be just as motivated as when I first started, until then peace! and thanks to all those who bought some of my work to date, much appreciated!

Today I will be taking down my exhibition "Athanasia" at the Stable Gallery, big thank you to those who managed to check it out. As a result of the prints I sold, I will be donating over $300 to Motor Neuron Disease Tasmania. Thanks again and I will aim to have some new works by the end of the year, cheers!

Six months ago my father Eric, was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease. On Saturday 19th of October, Eric's fight with MND came to an end. For those of you who don't know, Eric is the man you see in 90% of my photographs, without him my a lot of my ideas wouldn't have been possible.

Growing up and to this day, I always called him by his first name, this was because I thought of him as more than just a dad, to me he was Eric, my best friend. You will always be in my heart Eric, love you forever.

Two of my works will be featured in the 2013 "Click" photography prize in Melbourne. The show will be opened at Brunswick Street Gallery on the 30th of August and will be open till the 12th of September. Few G's up for grabs I believe, no themes, so should be quite an interesting and diverse show!

Peace out!
