My other favourite locust image in black and white.

I am amazed at how the intricate details of this insect stand out so much more in black and white than they do in colour.

Eye: Window to the Soul

A reedit of one of my favourite black and white pictures from when my son was barely a few weeks old.

Taken in nature light streaming through the window, I love the deep reflection in my son's eye.

Domus Locusta
"House Locust" in Latin

This little fellow was sitting on our driveway one morning, and despite being part way through setting up for a newborn session, I rushed inside, grabbed my camera, lay on my 27week pregnant belly on the ground, and took this photo.

I am not normally much of a black and white photographer, but this image the black and white really makes the more intricate details of the locust stand out.

Weddings can be so fun to photograph...but also a bit tricky when you're a bridesmaid too!

So for some photos that I needed to be in, I became photography director, and someone else pushed the button!

Still a lot of fun to capture the small details of the day.

A bit different from my norm.

Back in January, I was honoured to capture some moments from my sister's wedding. Only the second wedding I have photographed. Although the sun was none too kind, we still managed to get a few keepers.

Congratulations to my sister and new brother, not only only on your marriage and the 5 months since then, but also on the many wonderful adventures life will take you on, this year, and the decades to come!

These images are a reminded of my greatest shot, never taken.

I was driving along a road just outside of Penshurst, Victoria, when I saw a mother fox, sitting on top of round hay bales, nursing her three fox pups.

Off course, I only saw them for a split second before they were obscured from view by a plantation. I jumped on the breaks, and did a U turn.

By the time I whipped my camera out of my bag, and swapped lenses, the mother vixen was onto my presence and hurried disappeared before my eyes as I was trying to cross the highway to get close enough to take the photo.

The pups were less concerned about my presence, and played on the hay bales as they slowly made their way to their den. They were curious little pups, stopping momentarily, to look at me before also disappearing.

The image of a mother fox nursing her three young is forever imprinted on my mind. It is a once in a life time shot, but was not to be recorded, except in my memory.
