People sometimes feel they need to be able to articulate why they want a particular work before they are allowed to buy it. That is not how it works.

The attraction does not need a defense. You do not have to be able to explain Hope and Harmony. Wynnum Jetty, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia to someone who asks; you just have to know it belongs in your space.

The explanation, if you want one, tends to arrive later on its own.

The finished work is not the whole story. It is the end of a longer, quieter process that most collectors never see.

Exhilarating. Lake Moke, South Island, NewZealand

It is a heavenly experience shooting from this remote location. Walking through the field, the long grass was icy against my body. The star-studded sky was transitioning to soft streaks of light. I started shooting from a frosty patch of grass. The temperature plummeted before sunrise, the snow-capped majestic mountains commanded my attention. Calm conditions resulted in perfect reflections. Peace permeated the atmosphere.

Most people never think about this consciously, but they feel it. Art placed directly in a sightline changes a room immediately.

Placement is as intentional as the work itself.

I think "Invitation. Nice, France" could fit into a few different places. Where will you display it?

That morning was a crisp start. Walking along the La Promenade, des Anglaise before sunrise was unforgettable. It was fascinating listening to the sound of the Mediterranean Sea as it swooshed against the pebbles on the shoreline. Cafes were opening, and traffic increasing. Fishing boats were travelling at a relaxed pace. It was a moment of wanting time to stand still. As the sunrise evolved, it added warmth and a golden glow to Nice.

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.
