Happy 100th birthday to the one and only Sir David Attenborough!
What an honour it was to meet the legend in 2008 when he was giving a talk at London Zoo about the plight of amphibians globally.
He gave us a sneak preview of 'Life in Cold Blood' before it aired on TV. By the end of his speech there was a few teary-eyes around the theatre. He really drove the point home: The reality that must we act immediately and meaningfully if we are to save the most threatened vertebrates on earth - the frogs, toads, newts, salamanders & ceacilians who have it coming from all angles, just like most species but amphibians have some unique threats that other vertebrate groups don't have and thus are in more trouble.
I had a big speech planned in my head as I approached him but I spoke to him in such a fast nervous way that he might've struggled to understand me ๐
