Sometimes being intimate just means being yourself.

This is sooo much easier said than done, but hear us out: You just existing is ENOUGH and is so s*xy, which is exactly what Bo***ir is for. Of course it’s a great opportunity to use these shoots as an experience to push the boundaries of your own level of s*x symbol; by all means PLEASE do. (Geoff Goldbloom can’t be the reigning king forever 🤭) But it can also be an easy built-in gift to dig deeper and really just relax into yourself.

There is no way we would have landed being Bo***ir Photographers today had it not been for moments in our lives where we allowed ourselves the permission to make and take space, mentally and physically, to just be us and sit with that. It was profound how allowing the soft sides, the tough edges, the crawling through our own cringe to find our ease, has let us learn how gorgeous we are when we aren’t trying or pretending. Not to mention how incredible and timeless the photos in this mindset come out! It’s just a next level experience both for us as artists and for the people. Aka We like to make you look good but you can also feel good too!

Been feeling in a certain Hobbit-style mood lately so thought we’d extend the vibes your way! Remember as we are now over the halfway hump in the year that its never a bad time to slow down, check in with yourself over 2nd breakfast, and make sure you are continuing to live the life you desire most as the version of you you like the best.

Getting back into a schedule after a major weather event is CRAZY!! We feel absolutely overwhelmed; however, so grateful to have been safe regardless of power being out for so long & attempting to embrace in the reality that perseverance in this economy is key 🤭

♥️🖤Enjoy the space between where you are & where you are going🖤♥️

When we first opened Dark Roast it was to do wedding videography. Once the field opened up, it became apparent that we felt most at home in bo***ir; hence the name evolution. Something that has always stuck with us is the pull to cinematic style - originally we offered cinematic video so of course we brought it with us to do cinematic photography. Originally as people we met in film school so the progression in life has a theme if you can’t tell.

Now, the overall style of what we offer will always evolve but we love to capture this point of view much as possible since (in our opinion) that is the most special part: seeing yourself reflected back through our eyes. In the photos you get out of the shoot is the cherry on top of your hard earned bravery in that it makes you feel like you are the main fu***ng character, you know - just in case you forgot that you are 😋

Hi, we are James & Shey aka: Dark Roast Bo***ir. We are Bo***ir Photographers on the Gold Coast of Australia who help people capture priceless moments in time so they can always have a cinematic quality reminder of just how badass they are.

We want to bring the s*xiness of honesty to the photos you have & a giant couple senses of humor to the session it takes to create it! Think you don’t need any of yourself? We’ll let your friends and family decide.

“It’s Bigger Than Bo***ir” & what that means to us..

At first it was a way to describe that participating in Bo***ir is such an extravagant way to break out of self assigned limits, to practice extreme self love and truly just celebrate yourself in the most authentic way that isn’t for performance to appease anyone but yourself because you are enough. And all the sudden from moving to Australia we felt that this is something that most people do more often in many ways so we didn’t shout it the way we should have thinking maybe it wasn’t such a radical idea after all.. however…

Just to fill in the last week: we saw that they are making moves in part of the U.S. that to be a photographer or participant in Bo***ir as it will be treated as s*xual distribution of po*******hy and considered s*x work; both of which are being pushed to be illegal. So now its deepens the entire lore to the phrase. Because it wasn’t so glaringly real how the simplicity of even being able to do bo***ir was a privilege gone unrecognized. That womens rights were not that long ago upheld, and trans rights are still yet to be so broadly welcomed (which is fxcking bonkers).

All that to say that we as photographers and as people don’t just do this for the gimick, its not a money making business (for us/yet) and the passion or freedom to do so is more and more relevant by the day. We want to photograph people being people feeling human emotions and knowing they are beautiful just as they are regardless of what chaos is accruing and especially because We fxcking CAN.
