Some afternoons don't need colour.

Just the weight of a gathering storm, the silhouette of a rooster standing his ground, and the reminder that the most powerful images are often the simplest.

I love stripping a scene back to shape, light and atmosphere. Sometimes that's all a photograph needs.

Today marks the official birthday of every horse across the Southern Hemisphere.

Of course, they have no idea what day it is. They still expect breakfast on time, they'll still find the muddiest part of the paddock, and they'll still be waiting at the gate for their favourite people.

But it's a good reminder for us.

The years with our horses are never as long as we'd like. So celebrate the ordinary moments. Take the photos. Go for the ride. Stand quietly in the paddock for a little longer.

Meet my first dog of Somerset - Ghost!

I met Ghost and his Mum on the weekend and we had a fantastic afternoon taking these photos!

Seeing the connection between them both and the pure joy that Ghost displayed interacting with his Mum was so rewarding. And how bright are his eyes!

A photography experience with me isn't about having a perfectly trained dog (I only need 1/3000 of a second to capture them), it's about have a fun, relaxed session while I capture photos of you pet that you'll love.

And if you don't love them I'll refund your session fee.
