Australia is marking the 25th anniversary of our troop deployment to liberate East Timor. I was one of the photojournalists with our soldiers as they deployed and the only photographer on air mobile ops into the mountains. It was an honour to be a part of this mission and the units I was with. I've documented the East Timor development into a developing economy ever since for publications such as Time magazine and The Australian newspaper as well as numerous broadcasting organizations. The photo below was made a long way from Chinchilla and aboard a Blackhawk helicopter enroute to liberate the small island country in 1999.
