Following on from my previous post, firstly thank you for your participation that was actually really fun and insightful!

This was the image I entered into Youthhood last year.

Interestingly it didn’t receive as much love from you guys compared to the others in the series. I’m still really obsessed with it though. I guess I just love the obscurity of it, the mystery, the movement, while also having this omnipresent serenity due to the shot angle and composition which allows the water to be the subtle hero.

So I did a bit of research… (and I have an announcement, please read on)…

The average Aussie mum with a child under 5 spends in excess of 60 hours a week parenting and playing with kids at home or doing housework. Those with their youngest being 5-14 years are still, on average, spending 36h doing the same.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember this is an average, so minus mums that work and use childcare/have a partner at home, that leaves the majority of mamas spending probably twice that much time at home with their kids. Add to that mamas like myself who also work from home and you're starting to pick up what I'm putting down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Such an important role, such a happy (but oh so challenging) time, when your focus is your children and your home, goes mostly unseen. It should be acknowledged, documented, gosh darn it, it should be celebrated! This is my firm belief.

I have always had a visceral reaction to anything fake, a strong bu****it detector if you like. The upside of that for you is I'm in my element when I get to capture you in your nautral habitat, directed yes, but not posed.

So without further ado… I have decided to solely focus on telling YOUR STORY at HOME. THIS is where my heart is, THIS is where I need to be. Shooting you, as you are, in your happy place equates to me being in mine. Simples.
