Let me tell you a story full of numbers and statistics.
Although I have been taking photos of sport since 2001, my first paid gig was way back in 2006 and shortly after PowerShots became an official ASICS business.
For some, it may seem glamorous travelling all over the world taking photos, but for me, it was a reminder of how much hard work it is running a photography business.
Now for the numbers...
This morning, I backed-up and archived over 1 million photos from 300 gigs and 87 tournaments. That equates to literally tens of thousands of hours of work.
Some events were harder than others. The National Men’s Netball tournaments were by far the hardest. Each weeklong event involved over 250 hours of work between Emma and myself. Nearly all of which were during the tournament. Let that sink in.
Although each gig was a lot of hard work, we did make a lot of amazing friends. Too many to count. If it wasn’t for PowerShots, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and I wouldn’t have such a rich life full of beautiful people.
So, although it has come time to hang up the camera and say goodbye to our beloved PowerShots business, we are looking forward to the next chapter of our lives, where we will have more time for ourselves and each other.
So, thank you to everybody that believed in us and gave us the opportunity to do the thing we loved. And thank you to everybody that helped along the way.
Special thanks to Tracey Cossi, Tammy Holcroft, and Sarah Harris.
Hopefully, when the tournaments start up again, Emma and I will get a chance to pop in occasionally and say hi. But this time, only taking photos for ourselves. 😉
