The Yellow-throated Scrubwrens were an easy subject to shoot so tried messing around with some different textures. Tried going for a dense rainforest vibe.

Despite the birding being quite uneventful, I had a good time out with & on the weekend. The highlight of the day would have to be the Striped Honeyeaters we saw later in the afternoon. Definitely one of my favourite honeyeater species.

It’s been a while since I last posted here. Over the past year I was focusing on work and finishing off school so I didn’t have a whole lot of time for photography. Hoping to get back into it much more this year. Here’s a photo of a Red-Backed Kingfisher from last year :)

Hooded Robin (Melanodryas cucullata)

I generally don’t delve into the really small in frame style often, but I felt like it was essential to convey the scene in this image. This photo was taken a few weeks after the massive bushfires out at Kings Canyon in 2021. Most of the birds were still active, including these Hooded Robins which made for a perfect subject perched on a branch amidst the burnt landscape.

Little Woodswallow (Artamus minor)

These are definitely one of my favourite woodswallows! They were quite abundant after all the rain out at Kings Canyon. Here are two different photos, one with the ridge in the background for a nice pastel backdrop, and the other, a highkey image by getting down low to get the sky in the background. Which one is your favourite?

Budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus)

Queensland, like the NT, also has no shortage of budgies! At Boulia, almost every hollow around the campsite had budgies climbing in and out them. It was great watching these particular individuals cleaning out this hollow :)
