Talented artist, Kym Annette, recently asked to draw one of my images - a droplet of water on barbed wire. I feel privileged that she did so. I have posted her artwork below, with my image beside it. Kym did an amazing job. She is on Instagram as kajart69.

This image raised quite a lot of awareness in Australia, and some areas worldwide, about the need to eradicate barbed wire due to its impact on wildlife and all animals. I am so grateful to those, like Kym, who feel passionately about the wellbeing of animals.

Thank you Kym.🥰🌏✏️

Some of my recent images:

- Cabbage White Butterfly.
- Female Magpie enjoying our sprinkler on an over 40 Degree Celsius day.
- Grey Fantail showing off to a nearby female.
- Rare and endangered Spotted Pardolate after drinking from water I leave out for wildlife.
- Horse taken during golden hour.

📷I only shoot in manual and these ones were taken using my Canon 1DXMII with a 400mm F/5.6 USM lens (a superb prime lens).

Victoria sure knows how to burn. 🔥
We are safe, but there are some I know who aren't and my heart goes out to them. 💖
It will be worse tomorrow (temps have been in the 40s for 2 days and will be higher here tomorrow).
Please consider wildlife, pets, livestock and the elderly and disabled - keep a close eye on them.
I took these tonight of the Towong bushfire across the Hume Weir. It's a monster and there are spot fires occurring to the east and southeast. Hoping and praying the wind behaves so our wonderful firies have a chance to get it under control.
The last pic was taken on the way home - it felt as if hope was shining through the clouds.

Our 15 year-old-son is currently training for his recreational pilot's license. I've posted a few of my images of him in the air today with his instructor. I highly recommend Sureflight in Albury for anyone in northeast Vic/NSW wanting to do flight training.

A quick trip to Ballarat over the weekend to see our son. Here are a few images from the trip. The tulips and daffodils were growing wild (so beautiful).

Welcome to all new followers! And thank you to those who've shared my post about eradicating barbed wire fencing. We all deserve a kinder world, animals included. 🌏💖

Spring in the garden. 🐝🌿🌸
All images shot in manual (as usual - as some have asked me) and today I'm using my Canon 1DX M11.
For the macro shots I add an extender on my 24-105mm 4L and use my feet, the zoom, and the manual focus; it takes a lot of practice to do macro this way, but I love the challenge.

I recently photographed the Australian Jousting Competition at Kryal Castle, Ballarat, Vic. It was a fabulous, fun-filled event with some amazing jousting talent. Phillip Leitch, a former world champion, won the event (image one). I hope to be there to capture the next championship.

End the Suffering.
My pretty picture aims to tell a story that is not so pretty.

I'm not a fan of barbed wire - and have petitioned to have it eradicated forever on many occasions.

Why?
- It is a major hazard to wildlife (kangaroos, koalas, possums, flying foxes, etc...). It causes so much death and suffering.
- Ecological issues - barbed wire negatively impacts biodiversity, stressing the need for humane farming and land management.
- Lack of visibility - barbed wire can be invisible at night, increasing the risk of injury by collision and entanglement, particularly for nocturnal animals such as bats.

How can we help?
- Change.org has a current petition to eradicate barbed wire (see below in comments).
- By tying white ribbon, or string to the top strand of wire, we are making this wire more visible, particularly at night.
- Volunteer in areas where barbed wire is being replaced with wire that is not barbed (it is not more expensive either).
- Replace your property's fencing with basic wire.
- Educate others about the hazards of barbed wire.

Thank you for reading this. 😊
