Len Beadell built some of the most spectacular, remote, and vehicle smashing roads through the Western Desert of Australia. In terms of remoteness, Chris McCandless's bus in Alaska doesn't hold a candle to this beauty that lies north of Tjukurla WA.

The usually dry Hale River flowing through Ruby Gap in Central Australia due to the heaviest November rain fall on record, thanks to back to back La Nina events. No one else has taken this photo, ever.

This is the image I nearly sacrificed my 4WD for, totally worth it. The water flowing down the Hale was only a few inches above the surface of the sand, but below the surface, the water was still flowing through the sand, creating dangerous pockets of quick sand which claimed my vehicle. I sat in the river for hours, with the warm current gently flowing against me while I tried to rescue my 4WD and despite a serious situation with ever escalating consequences and the potential loss of my vehicle, I was totally at peace . Without doubt this is the most peaceful, beautiful and tranquil place I have ever visited, and I am honoured to of captured the Hale River in flow, on Large Format.
