“Sometimes I get a phone call from the stockist saying there’s a big dent in the side, and I say ‘no that’s actually meant to be there, that’s my thumb print!’.” Karen Morton from Kaz Ceramics is a ceramicist based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.

I was directing, co-shooting, and editing this piece for realestate.com.au, at a time when the site was known mainly as the place to buy a house and was launching a new Lifestyle brand about creating a home.

We produced the Behind Design series to show the mess, the craft, and the humans behind the objects we fill our spaces with.

Karen was all about the wobble, the quirk, and the actual human hands making the thing. Nobody really falls in love with “perfect.” We fall in love with the thumbprints.

As Karen put it: “There’s a measuring tape in the studio but it’s got dust on it and it’s never been used.”

People outside your region don’t know your business the way locals do. Agsave Merchandise Pty Ltd in Kimba has supported farmers across the Eyre Peninsula for more than 30 years. Locally, the business is well understood and trusted, but online it was difficult for people outside the region to quickly grasp the full scope of what Agsave does or the role it plays in local farming operations.

That gap started to matter as more customers, suppliers, and potential agronomists began researching the business online before making contact. The existing information didn’t reflect the scale of the operation or make it easy for someone unfamiliar with the region to understand how Agsave supports farmers day to day.

The goal wasn’t to change how the business operates, but to clearly show what already exists.

I designed and built a structured website in Webflow, organised around how people actually look for information when assessing an agronomy and farm supply business. Services and product categories were separated and written in plain language, so visitors could quickly understand what Agsave offers, where it operates, and how to get in touch.

Since launching, Agsave has appeared on the first page of Google for multiple local, high-intent searches related to agronomy and agricultural supplies in and around Kimba. Enquiries now come from people who already understand the scope of the business, and recruitment conversations start with much less explanation.

“Our website looks great, ranks well on Google, and helps grow our business in a practical way.” — Tanya Blair, Office Manager, Agsave Merchandise

The last thing shoppers in Ringwood expected was to stop at the lights and have Shrek the Musical break out in front of them.

Maroondah City Council needed to reach a local audience on social media and cut through feeds that are usually full of announcements and ads.

Rather than promoting the Ringwood Spiegeltent in the usual way, the performance was staged at the traffic lights outside Eastland Shopping Centre.

When the lights went red, Dolly Diamond and students from Ringwood High School, dressed for Shrek the Musical, stepped into the intersection and launched into I’m a Believer. Traffic stopped. Phones came out. Drivers watched it unfold in real time including... is that Betty White?

The footage was cut into a longer hero video capturing the full performance, along with shorter edits designed for social feeds. The content ran across Maroondah City Council channels and was shared locally.

The result was strong local reach and engagement across social channels, helping drive awareness and attendance for the Ringwood Spiegeltent. I directed, filmed, and edited the project.

Rebuilding the Webflow website that supports regional development across South Australia.

Regional Development South Australia (RDSA) is the peak body for driving regional development across the state. The RDSA website plays an important role in promoting investment in regional SA and the work of RDSA and its members. It acts as a central portal for key data, information, plans, and strategies that support regional growth and advocacy.

I was commissioned to merge the RDSA and RDA Adelaide websites with a new design and data structure. The aim was to better support RDSA’s statewide role.

“Nathan helped us turn years of regional development work into a resource that genuinely supports our role at a statewide level. The website now makes it easy for regions, governments, and other stakeholders to find relevant information, see connections across priorities, and build on existing work. It has strengthened how we support coordination, evidence-based decision-making and regional development outcomes across South Australia.” - Leonie Boothby, CEO / Director Regional Development, Regional Development Australia Adelaide

The Victorian Government is delivering one of the largest education infrastructure programs in its history. The task was to document and promote this investment in a way that felt human, credible, and grounded in real outcomes for students and communities.

I travelled across Victoria to capture the scale and impact of the program on the ground, filming interviews with Premier Daniel Andrews, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education James Merlino, along with teachers, students, and school leaders.

The content showcased state-of-the-art schools, future-focused Tech Schools, and modern learning environments embedded into local communities.

The video work was published across Premier and Ministerial channels, the Victorian School Building Authority and national and local media, helping communicate the real-world impact of this investment in education.

Belong, Telstra ’s low cost telco brand, was growing quickly and needed a way to welcome new staff without losing what actually made the place special. Rather than explaining values or rolling out another onboarding video, this snippet from the Together We’re Different campaign shows them in action, with CEO Ben Burge using humour and honesty to set the tone from the top.

I shot, directed, wrote, and edited the piece, which genuinely warmed people’s hearts, received a standing ovation on release, and helped new team members immediately feel part of the business from day one.

For many regional students, study does not fit neatly into business hours. It happens late at night, early in the morning, and in the gaps between work, family, and travel.

Barossa Regional University Campus exists to make that access possible locally, providing a shared, 24-hour study environment so students can study when life allows, not just when offices are open.

As usage increased, the old website and manual processes made it harder to manage access, visibility, and reporting in a calm and reliable way.

I designed and built the website and connected systems end to end, treating the website as the operational front door. Registrations, bookings, access, and reporting were designed to work together as a single system.

Students could see what was available and book rooms themselves. Phone enquiries about room availability dropped by around 95 percent. Staff gained real-time visibility of who was on campus, and reporting that once took days could be produced in minutes.

For decades, farmers across the Eyre Peninsula have gone to Agsave Merchandise Pty Ltd in Kimba for seed, fertiliser, ag chemicals, mouse bait, and agronomy advice.

Agsave needed a website that clearly explained what the business does and how it supports farmers, without changing how it already operates.

Specifically:

Services needed to be easy to understand and easy to find
The business needed to appear in local search results for relevant agronomy and farm supply terms
Potential agronomists needed enough context to assess the role, the business, and the region before reaching out

I designed and built a structured website in Webflow.

Agsave began appearing on the first page of Google for multiple local, high-intent search terms related to agronomy and agricultural supplies in and around Kimba. It's supported recruitment both locally and internationally.

More enquiries came from people who already understood the scope of the business and its services before making contact, reducing friction at the first conversation.

A solid business became easier to understand, easier to find, and easier to choose.
