Sometimes, the ones who pay the highest price are the ones who had no voice in the decisions being made around them.
Animals don't understand contracts, financial decisions, disputes, deadlines, renovations or the consequences of human choices.
They don't understand why their home suddenly changes. Why their routines disappear. Why there's noise, strangers, equipment, disruption or uncertainty.
They simply know that something is different.
And the heartbreaking part is that animals are often the most innocent part of the equation.
They trust us completely. They don't choose the circumstances they're placed in, and they can't advocate for themselves when those circumstances become overwhelming.
There will always be people who make decisions based on money, convenience, power or self-interest.
But animals don't operate that way.
They give us trust without conditions. They love without keeping score. They don't care how much something costs, who owns what, or who is technically right.
They just want to feel safe.
And perhaps the greatest measure of our character is how we treat those who have no power to protect themselves.
Because it takes a special kind of moral bankruptcy to put self-interest ahead of the wellbeing of the innocent.
Sometimes, in the middle of human conflict, the most innocent ones are the ones who pay the price.
That's something I will never stop caring about.
Because when it comes to animals, their wellbeing should never be an afterthought.
And T-Rex, my beautiful boy, you will always be the reason this means so much to me.
I will always love you, my beautiful boy. ❤️🐾
Fly high, my beautiful boy, over the Rainbow Bridge. Run free, chase whatever you want, find all the water you can, and know that you will always be loved. 🌈🐾
Until we meet again. ❤️
