How was your Easter weekend? Mine was the perfect mix of friends and quality time with just the three of us.

We spent one day in the city, tucked away with great soup and board games, and another exploring the hills. From an incredible breakfast and strolling through Hahndorf to apple picking and ending the day with wood-fired pizzas at a brewery, it was exactly the refresh I needed.

The only "work" that snuck in was on Friday while I was prepping cupcakes for a friend's reunion. As soon as I spotted those chocolate eggs, I knew I had to get them in front of the lens! I played with a few different setups—incorporating fresh greenery, capturing some moody close-ups, and adding a human element. That last shot was a total bonus when my "little model" decided it was finally time to eat!

Two ways to grill octopus, zero rubbery textures.

If you love that smoky, charred exterior and tender middle, check out our latest post on Canguro Criollo. We are breaking down the absolute foolproof way to prep and grill octopus at home.

We are serving up a vibrant Middle east-spiced version and a traditional Galician style. Which one are you trying first? Let us know in the comments!

The secret to a "perfect" commercial shot? A whole lot of beautiful mess. 🤫

What you see first: It's my backyard, using the sun as the main light and playing with the shadows of the trees.

In 2026, professional food photography isn't about having a perfect studio—it’s about knowing how to manipulate light and shadow to tell the right story, even in the middle of the mess.

I love showing the "behind the curtain" moments because it reminds us that great content is built, not just found. Whether it’s a mocktail shoot or a batch of heritage biscuits, the goal is always the same: making the viewer stop scrolling and start salivating. 🤤

Happy Waffle Day! 🧇✨

In the world of commercial food photography, comfort food like a humble waffle often gets the "bright and airy" treatment. But as a specialist in heritage styling and deep textures, I prefer to give them some drama.

For this shoot, I leaned into my signature Deep Winter palette—using moody, dark linens and aged wood to make the golden texture of the waffle and the deep colours of the citrus pop.🖤

It’s not just breakfast; it’s an atmosphere.

How do you prefer your waffles? Bright and fruity, or rich and chocolatey? Let’s debate in the comments! 👇

The "Originality Myth" is holding you back. ✨

I used to think that if I didn't come up with a lighting setup or a composition that had never been seen before, I wasn't a "real" artist. Then I read Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon.

The secret? Your favourite creators are just really good at hiding their sources. 🤫

For this shoot, I "stole" the layout and the crumb detail from my favourite Pinterest saves, but I mashed them together with a bold purple palette that felt like me. The result? Something brand new.

Ever wonder why some food photos feel 'expensive' while others just feel... flat? 🧐

In 2026, the secret isn't just a better camera—it's Colour Psychology.

As a food photographer, I specialise in finding the right colour palette for your brand. For example, for this restaurant session I did last year, we chose the dark and moody palette. Why? These rich, saturated tones (think plums, deep greens, and charcoal) create an immediate sense of heritage and luxury. They tell your customers that your product has history and depth before they even read the menu.

Capture the magic without the stress. ✨

In most of my studio shoots, I keep the camera locked on a tripod. This lets me frame the perfect shot and then "play" with the movement—making it incredibly easy to capture those human element shots that double as fun GIFs or stop-motion clips!

Next time you’re shooting, try staying still to let the action move. Your gallery (and your clients) will thank you. 📸

Always ready for ice cream, especially on the weekend! 🍦

We actually shot this back in spring, because let’s face it—with the heat we’ve been having, not even the strongest aircon can keep the ice cream from melting before the first click. It’s a total race against time!

Are you Team Ice Cream, too? 🍨✨

Whether it’s for a client or a personal project, every shoot starts with a vision and a mood board. But the magic really happens when that plan meets reality.

On set, I build the scene exactly as I imagined it, making those small, intuitive adjustments as I go. But I don’t stop once I’ve "got the shot." My favourite part of the process is what comes next: exploring.

By playing with new angles and perspectives of the same scene, I often find those "hidden gems" that I never could have planned for. 💎

You start to realise that being creative is not only producing beautiful images, it also use your creativity to produce it. This time I had an idea in my mind to use a print backdrop to try a new trend that I saw in fashion and try to use it here, I want to do this combo of light blue and burgundy. I didn’t want to buy anything so I search in my closet and find this blouse with little prints and combined it with this gorgeous cherries. I have to confess that this season I have eat a huge amount of them 🍒.

When I spotted these artichokes at the Central Market a couple of months ago, I knew I had to have them—partly because I love to eat them, but mostly because I had to photograph them first!

Initially, I planned on styling an elaborate dish, but I decided to pivot. I realized that keeping it simple was the best way to showcase the incredible natural texture of the leaves.

I find so much beauty in produce photography. It’s a chance to highlight the details we often overlook—like the deep greens and subtle purples hidden in every layer. 🌿✨

There’s a special kind of magic in the "human touch."

While I usually work alone in my studio, photographing a restaurant on-site is a breath of fresh air. I love getting into the heat of the kitchen to capture the chef in action or that perfect moment a waitress delivers a dish.

With AI on the rise, showing the real faces behind the food makes a venue so much more relatable. I’m a firm believer that people buy from people.

Here are a few favorites from my shoot with Esilio Wines. ⚙️ Gear: Nikon D750
