Art For Aid

Art For Aid Eco friendly greeting cards that send a real message! In 2010 I collected artwork created by disadvantaged children in Cambodia and Bali.

Their artwork fronts Art For Aid's eco friendly greeting cards and proceeds made will be returned to the organisations who have supplied artwork. I was privileged enough to go to Bali and personally meet the children and volunteer staff at The Bali Orphanage (as they are known as on Facebook). On our arrival we were greeted by the children in English and did our best to return the greeting in Indo

nesian. They stood facing us and sung our official welcome! I then presented them with my old digital camera as a gift and an overflowing basket of art supplies as a donation from Art For Aid. As the children gathered around their long dining table they graciously distributed the various art supplies between themselves. I explained to them my intentions for their artwork and asked them to hand me their finished creations so I could take it back to Australia. As you can see from the artwork that fronts our cards, many of the children were very skilled artists. Their shy but proud faces, as they gave me their artwork, will stay with me forever!

Art For Aid just became a liker of 1000 Paper Cranes project and was very moved by the story and purpose behind this. Making paper cranes is a skill that I acquired as a 12yr old when we had a Japanese exchange student. I too the love the story of Sadako! I will be sending some paper cranes soon. Best wishes Melissa
