Swap Playing Cards : Vintage, Retro & Antique Collectable Cards

Swap Playing Cards : Vintage, Retro & Antique Collectable Cards Vintage, Retro and Antique Swap and Playing Card Collectors Arguably facebook's first swap playing card collector store.

Swap card collecting originated in Melbourne in the 1950s when Coles Stores started selling "Exclusive Coles Cards" (see attached photo) to their customers. Woolworths Stores shortly followed suit - "Woolworths Cards". This started a trend in Melbourne of playing "swappies" at schools where young girls would swap cards. These aforementioned cards are now extremely valuable and collectors will pay

handsomely for "one" card. In the 1970s the trend returned and Newagent stores began selling blank backed cards. Deck playing cards also formed part of collections, especially the blank deck card and the joker. Good quality vintage and modern "deck" playing cards now form part of many collections; some collectors collect everything; some collectors have a theme i.e. art deco ladies; and some collectors only collect joker cards. Coles and Woolworth Card collectors would be sitting on a fortune as cards in mint condition sell from $20.00 to $60.00 depending on availability.
