It’s rare in life that dreams actually come true. This is why I want to thank my friend, colleague and cousin Veronica Branzas for making this long time dream a reality, by taking part in this duo show with me. It’s been well over 20 years of our personal and creative paths intersecting in so many ways. I’m happy to have her forever close to my heart, and I’m happy to be able to show you through this exhibition a part of our journey together in life. It is our pleasure to invite you on the 2nd of April to be a part of this experience with us, at the Kunst.Lokal Gross-Enzersdorf. Sometimes art feels like magic but true magic is in the eyes of the beholder. Our mind makes us see things that are not there and our own experiences shape the way we see the world. One of the most difficult things to photograph in sculpture is the negative imprint of an object, as the mind will automatically transform the photographed negative space into a positive one and an imprint into a tridimensional element. There never was a portrait in this sculpture. There were no added tricks to deceive you either. That portrait that you’ve seen? Completely interpreted by your mind upon looking at the photograph of a face imprint, a mask basically, taken from my face in a process I’ve shared here before. Where you able to tell or has your mind deceived you? I’m so curious about who got it right so share it in the comments with me. 🙌
By these means I am also happy to share with you the sculpture “Fate”, part of the triptych “The Pursuit for Meaning”. You’ve seen glimpses of it as early as last year and I couldn’t be more trilled to finally see it completed. What do you all think? Was it worth the wait?

There should always be a touch of mystery in art, a tiny spark that makes the viewer stop and ponder. Art should stir emotions, make people feel and move something deep inside of them. In an increasingly desensitized world, where doom scrolling has become the norm, I trust and hope that art could make people stop again. Reflect again. Feel again. Question what they are seeing and why it makes them feel a certain way. And sometimes things are not what they seem. Do you trust your instinct? Are your eyes telling you that something is wrong in this photo? Stop for a second and think about it. There is no AI, no effects, just a simple photo of a sculpture. And still a bit of a mystery that needs to be solved. So what do you see? Share it with your friends and see if they can tell.

This weekend the Laxenburg Art Fair has come to an end. It was a beautiful event in a gorgeous location and I am happy to have been a part of it. My gratitude goes to the for their support and professionalism throughout this event. I look forward to many fruitful collaborations together.
