Many of you may not know the name Kevin Burns, but without him, there might never have been another ‘Lost in Space’ project after the original series.
Six years today after his passing, I still think of him often. Kevin was endlessly enthusiastic, engaging, funny and a dear friend. I’ll always remember him giving Bill and me permission to use any photographs we wanted from his Lost in Space archives. Those images brought our memories to life and helped make ‘Lost (and Found) in Space’ a joyful record of our time in space. The book was not only a collection of memories from our time together, but also a reflection on how those experiences shaped our young lives. Revisiting those memories and bringing them together was a wonderful experience for both Bill Mumy and me.
When we prepared the updated edition, Lost (& Found) in Space 2, Kevin helped us add another collection of photographs from archives he had recently purchased. These images made the book more complete and included so many photographs that no one had ever seen before.
I’m grateful for his friendship and for all he gave to television, film, and the people whose lives he touched. His footprint was big and he’s deeply missed. If you want to take a trip down memory lane Signed copies of the book are available at: angelacartwrightstudio.com
