قدیم شاہراہ ریشم (Silk road) نہ صرف تجارتی گزر گاہوں کا ایک نیٹ ورک تھا بلکہ ان راستوں کے ذریعے مختلف نسل کے لوگ اور ان کے ساتھ علم و حکمت، ثقافتی اقدار ، مذہبی اقتدار آتے اور بدلتے رہے۔ اس طرح ان علاقوں کے تاریخ اور تہذیبوں پرگہرے اثرات پڑتے رہے اور یہ سلسلہ اب بھی جاری ہے ۔انہی راستوں نے فنون لطیفہ، زبان وادب ، کے ساتھ ساتھ دستکاری، سائنس و ٹیکنالوجی، کے ذریعے سے بھی ان علاقوں کو متاثر کیا۔
زیر نظر تصاویر گلگت بلتستان کی وادی ہنزہ کی ہیں۔ ایک مغربی محقق سر اورل سٹین کا جب سن 1900 اور بعد میں 1930 میں یہاں سے گزر ہوا اس دوران انہوں نے یہ تصاویر کھینچی ہیں۔
میں اکثر ان کی تصاویر شئیر کرتا رہتا ہوں۔ انہوں نے نہ صرف گلگت بلتستان بلکہ ہمارے قریبی علاقوں چترال اور کوہستان کے تصویری خزانے اور کتابوں کی شکل میں علمی خزانے چھوڑے ہیں ۔ ہم ان کے کام کو تہہ دل سے سراہتے اور سلام پیش کرتے ہیں۔
